Audi ULEZ Check FAQs

What is the ULEZ?

The Ultra Low Emission Zone (ULEZ) is an area in London and other UK cities where vehicles must meet strict emissions standards to drive without paying a daily charge.

How do I check if my car is ULEZ compliant?

Simply enter your vehicle registration number into our ULEZ checker to instantly see if your car meets the required emissions standards.

What happens if my vehicle is not ULEZ compliant?

If your vehicle does not meet ULEZ standards, you will need to pay a daily charge to drive in the zone. Non-payment can result in fines.

Which vehicles are affected by the ULEZ?

Most petrol cars registered before 2006 and diesel cars registered before 2015 are not ULEZ compliant. Check your vehicle to be sure.

Does the ULEZ operate every day?

Yes, the ULEZ operates 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year except Christmas Day.

Is the ULEZ expanding?

Yes, the ULEZ has expanded to cover more areas of London and may be introduced in other UK cities in the future.

Will my vehicle ever become ULEZ compliant?

ULEZ compliance is based on your vehicle's emissions. Upgrading or retrofitting your vehicle may help it meet the standards.

Does Resolvo store my vehicle data?

No, Resolvo does not store your vehicle registration or results. All checks are private and secure.

Where does the ULEZ charge apply?

Since August 29, 2023, ULEZ operates city-wide up to the M25, covering all Greater London boroughs. Any motorist driving a non-compliant car within Greater London will be charged. The zone is clearly marked with green ULEZ signs at boundary points.

How do I know if I have to pay the ULEZ charge?

If you drive a non-compliant vehicle into the ULEZ, TfL will contact you about the charge. The zone uses Automatic Number Plate Recognition (ANPR) cameras - you won't be physically stopped, but you'll receive a £160 penalty if you don't pay by midnight of the third day.

Is my motorcycle Euro 3 compliant?

Motorcycles need to be Euro 3 compliant for ULEZ exemption (not Euro 6 like cars). Most bikes manufactured from 2007 onwards meet this standard. If your motorcycle is Euro 3 compliant, it's automatically ULEZ compliant. Use our checker to confirm your specific bike's status.

What cars are exempt from ULEZ?

Vehicles exempt from ULEZ include: Euro 4 petrol cars (typically 2005 onwards), Euro 6 diesel cars (typically 2015 onwards), electric vehicles, hydrogen fuel cell vehicles, and some hybrid vehicles. Historic vehicles over 40 years old may also qualify for exemptions.

How much will I get from ULEZ scrappage schemes?

The Mayor of London established a £2,000 ULEZ scrappage grant for all Londoners with non-compliant vehicles. The scheme is available to any household with a non-compliant car or motorcycle and is expected to cost around £160m to help people transition to cleaner vehicles.

What are the details of the ULEZ scrappage scheme?

The ULEZ scrappage scheme is a government initiative providing financial incentives to eligible vehicle owners to scrap older, polluting vehicles and switch to cleaner, low-emission alternatives. The scheme provides £2,000 grants to help Londoners affected by ULEZ expansion.
