UK Tesla
Superchargers ⚡
The gold standard of EV charging. Find V3 & V4 Superchargers, verify open-to-all status, and check live pricing.
V3 vs V4: What's the difference?
V4 Supercharger (New)
The latest generation. Features longer cables to easily reach charge ports on non-Tesla cars, and contactless payment screens so you don't always need the app. Capable of speeds over 350kW.
V3 Supercharger (Standard)
The current standard. Max 250kW speed. Shorter cables designed for Tesla charge ports. No screen - app required for non-Tesla drivers.
Open to Non-Teslas?
Tesla has opened over 40% of its UK network to all EVs equipped with a CCS connector. This makes it the largest ultra-rapid public network in the country.
How to access
Download the Tesla App, select "Charge Your Non-Tesla", and find a pin on the map. Select your stall number to start.
Membership Pricing
Non-Tesla drivers pay a higher rate (~60p/kWh). You can pay £10.99/mo for membership to unlock the lower "Tesla Owner" rates (~40p/kWh).
Frequently Asked Questions
Can non-Tesla cars use Superchargers?
Yes. Tesla has opened over 40% of its UK Supercharger network to all non-Tesla EVs. You need the Tesla app to unlock and pay for the stall. Look for the 'Open to All' filter on our map.
How fast is a Tesla Supercharger?
V3 Superchargers can deliver up to 250kW, adding up to 1,000 miles of range per hour. Older V2 stalls are 150kW. The new V4 stalls are capable of 350kW+ for future-proofing.
How much does it cost to use a Supercharger?
Prices vary by time of day and location. Typically off-peak is ~40p/kWh and peak is ~60p/kWh. Tesla owners often pay less than non-Tesla drivers unless the non-Tesla driver pays a monthly membership fee.
What is the idle fee?
If you leave your car plugged in after it has finished charging, Tesla charges an 'Idle Fee' (up to £1 per minute) to discourage blocking. Move your car immediately when charging is complete.
Do I need an adapter?
No. European Tesla Superchargers use the standard CCS2 connector which fits almost all modern EVs (VW, Audi, Hyundai, etc.). Older Model S/X cars use a modified Type 2.
Why is my charging slow?
Charging slows down as the battery fills up (tapering). It also slows if the battery is cold (pre-condition your battery!) or if you are sharing power on an older V2 stall.
How do I find 'Open' Superchargers?
Use the Resolvo map filter for 'Tesla (Open to All)' or check the Tesla app. Not all stations are open to non-Teslas yet.
Is it cheaper to charge at night?
Yes. Tesla uses dynamic off-peak pricing (usually 10pm-6am) at many sites. You can save significantly by charging during these hours.
Do Superchargers work with 800V cars?
Yes, but most V3 Superchargers are 400V systems. 800V cars (like Taycan/Ioniq 5) will charge, but typically at slower speeds (50-150kW) than their max potential.
Can I pay with a contactless card?
On V4 Superchargers, yes (they have screens/readers). On V2/V3 stalls, no. You must use the Tesla app (for non-Teslas) or Plug & Charge (for Teslas).
What is a V4 Supercharger?
V4 is the latest designs with longer cables (easier for non-Teslas), contactless payment screens, and higher power potential. They are rolling out across the UK now.
Why is the cable so short?
V2/V3 cables were designed for Teslas (charge port rear-left). Non-Teslas with different port locations sometimes have to park awkwardly or block two bays to reach.
Is there a monthly subscription?
For non-Tesla drivers, yes. You can pay £10.99/month for a 'Membership' to get the lower per-kWh price that Tesla owners pay.
Are Superchargers reliable?
Extremely. Tesla has a >99% uptime record, making them the gold standard for reliability compared to many third-party networks.
What is plug and charge?
For Tesla cars, you just plug in. The car talks to the charger, and billing is automatic. No apps or cards needed. Some other EVs (like Ford) are gaining this access too.
Can I tow a trailer while charging?
Most bays are back-in, so you must unhitch. However, new 'pull-through' bays are appearing at larger hub locations to accommodate towing.
Do Superchargers have roofs?
Rarely in the UK, though some new sites do. Prepare to get wet if it's raining!
Is there a limit to how much I can charge?
You can charge to 100%, but it is very slow and bad etiquette at a busy station. It is better to leave at 80% to let others charge.
How many Superchargers are there in the UK?
There are over 1,400 stalls across 140+ locations, with more opening every month.
What happens if the Supercharger is full?
The in-car nav (and app) shows live availability. If it says 'Wait time 5 mins', believe it. Queues move fast due to high speeds.
